IRAQ - CHURCH LEADER KILLED IN DRIVE-BY SHOOTING

An Iraqi church leader, Yousif Adil Abbodi, was assassinated in a drive-by shooting on April 5^th close to his home in Baghdad. The 47-year-old church leader was shot dead by gunmen travelling in a car just after he left his home. He had received several death threats. Pray for the family that was left void from this loss.

UZBEKISTAN - CHRISTIANS FACE INCREASING HARASSMENT FROM GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS

Christians in Uzbekistan find themselves increasingly targeted by government officials. On April 20th twelve government officials interrupted a Sunday service in Karshi town. They filmed the service and the people in the congregation. When the service finished, they took down the names and addresses of all Christians, threatening them with imprisonment and fines. They even asked all the children for their names and addresses. One official threatened a little girl with the words: “Do you want to go to prison? If not, tell me your address.” The officials then searched the building, confiscating all Christian literature, CDs and even personal Bibles. Three Christians were detained but later released.

Forty-six Christians were arrested on Sunday, April 13, in the Xianjiang region, China, while holding a Bible class and worshipping in a private home. Public Security Bureau (PSB) officials broke into the home, arresting all of the Christians present. All but two were released on bail after their family members paid 50 yuan (approximately $6.90) to the PSB. The Christians were asked to confess their illegal Sunday worship activities and study the government’s handbook on religious policy. They were released on the condition that they return and recite the policy to the PSB within one week.

Please pray that God will have mercy on me and bless me with one good job, a working vehicle, a safe home to live in without strife, food and gas to keep moving forward, and somehow to bless me so I can bless those who have helped me thus far. It's been such a struggle to survive. I have worn out my family, friends and I have been on so many job interviews and finding it difficult to land a job. I really need a miracle. I am a good person, hard worker, and I do not drink, smoke or do any form of drug. My heart, mind and soul are with Jesus, so why am I going through such a painful process right now. I've lost almost everything I own, having to sell it to survive. God help me. I am losing myself. Please ask the Lord to reach out and take the hands of his little girl and somehow bless me in a way that will allow me to honor him. I take no credit for anything. I am thankful the Lord has put food in my belly and led me to a few wonderful friends who are encouraging me, and to a beautiful church, small but very family-oriented and tightly knit. Dear Heavenly Father, please don't forget me now. In Jesus' name I ask you for your hand in helping me get out of this situation and to heal me emotionally. I keep waiting, thinking the electricity is going to get turned off again, or there will be another death close to me, or I will just lose my mind and heart and give up. Please Lord, don't leave me now!

02/06/08. Please pray for the families of 48 people who died in Lafayette Tennessee. Violent Tornados struck during the night downing power lines and crumbling homes. The storms swept across Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas. There is much peril today.

Pray that people would find the Lord who cares for them. Pray that Christians would respond in great numbers to help the victims and their families. Pray that good may come through all of this devastation.
